Easy Group Art Project for Kids
Orange Art Box was asked to participate at a local grade school for their arts and crafts night. The concept was a night out for kids to come with their parents and test out different types of art projects. How could we not be on board?
We wanted a project that would combine all of their creativity AND have something to show for it at the end of the night. Easy peasy! We came up with the idea of doing a group mosaic art project. Every kid that wanted to participate could add colored tissues to a huge canvas. At the end of the night, there would be one piece of artwork that everyone helped create. We were thrilled to give this masterpiece to the school to display!
Easy Group Art Project for Kids
- Supplies
- One large canvas
- Mod Podge - We used 2 of the large containers and had some left over.
- Foam brushes
- Tissue paper in a variety of colors - We used pre-cut colored tissue. If you are using regular sized tissue, you can tear pieces or cut them to different shapes and sizes.
- Scissors - if needed
First, brush a small section of the canvas with the Mod Podge. Then place the colored pieces of tissue over the Mod Podge. The tissue is delicate and may rip during this process. No worries! We think this gives the piece more dimension and personality. It makes the project more unique.
Repeat this process until all the canvas is covered. After the canvas is covered, apply a coat of Mod Podge over the finished artwork. This will hold all the tissue in place and create a seal, protecting the finished work.
That's it! So easy! The best part of the project is the kids will have fun doing it and create a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork.
